MRPO :15

CHAPTER :15

The pay is garbage, I wouldn’t even get to meet people, and I’m supposed to just clean and manage money all day? Did I really come all this way just to become a supply closet slave?

“When you said you were looking for a job, I expected something like a street stall vendor or a restaurant server.”

“A vendor? A restaurant server? Ha, please. How ridiculous. As if someone as frail as you could ever handle a job like that.”

“I’m not as weak as you think, okay? I can carry fruit crates!”

“And a street stall or restaurant? Do you have any idea what kind of people frequent those places? Drunkards, vagabonds, travelers—there’s no shortage of absolute nightmares among them. You look like an easy target, and you have zero physical strength. If someone so much as raises their voice, you’d probably start whining and crying or screaming in terror. You have so little common sense that you’d probably follow someone like a lost puppy just because they showed you a shred of kindness, and you’d be lucky not to get robbed blind.”

This rude bastard, seriously. Does he think I’m a toddler?

If he hadn’t spent every waking moment digging himself into a hole with that mouth of his, I would have thanked him for all his help and for finding me a job. But this was going too far. Helping me doesn’t give him the right to constantly insult and belittle my character.

“Senes. You like me, don’t you?”

“……Excuse me?”

Out of sheer frustration, I threw out the one accusation that would outrage him the most.

*Let’s see how you like it when someone makes wild assumptions and belittles you.*

It was bound to drive him absolutely insane with frustration!

“That’s why you keep picking fights with me, isn’t it? You want my attention, you want to see how I react. But since you don’t know how to speak nicely like Callion to win my favor, you throw all these thorny insults at me just to see me get mad, right?”

I fired off the words rapidly, not giving Senes a single second to counter them.

In the art of fabrication and instigation, striking first is always key.

Should I fire back with, “Oh my goodness! They say he likes me so much he’s just acting out for attention, ohohoho!” every single time you open your mouth to be rude?

Want to see who ends up looking more pathetic?

“From the very first moment we met, you immediately picked a fight about my name, didn’t you? You must have been so incredibly jealous of Callion calling me Master. And when I didn’t praise your cooking, you threw a silent tantrum and belittled me again, right? When we climbed up to the cave, you even slyly touched my body. And, oh my god, you ran off to bathe because being alone with me made your heart race with nervous excitement. Did you think I wouldn’t notice?”

I took all of Senes’s past actions and twisted them with my own wild interpretations, completely rewriting history.

My only goal was to make this jerk die of frustration, so the truth was entirely irrelevant.

If this bastard stared at me?

It was because I was so beautiful that he was completely mesmerized.

If he ignored me?

It was just a desperate attempt to get my attention.

Logic had no place here.

Why should I fight with common sense and logic when this rude bastard had been verbally thrashing me with whatever nonsense popped into his head?

I was going to pull whatever made-up theories I wanted out of thin air.

“If you like me that much, you could just be honest about it. I have no idea why you’re so twisted up inside that you can only say mean things to get my attention. Ah. Is that it? Since you can’t charm me with a sweet personality like Callion, you’re pretending to be a toxic ‘bad boy,’ hoping I’ll reach out a hand to try and fix you?”

“…….”

Senes did not answer.

He stared down at me, his eyes wide with shock.

I could feel his utter, speechless flabbergastation, but I felt neither guilty nor embarrassed.

You were the one who started spitting rude nonsense first.

I’m just giving you a taste of your own medicine, so what of it?!

“And here I thought you were completely clueless.”

Senes tilted his head.

“I guess you’re not entirely blind, are you?”

……What?

What on earth is this crazy bastard talking about? Is he joking, or is he serious?

I had assumed he was joking, but to my surprise, there wasn’t a trace of amusement on Senes’s face. He wasn’t mocking or looking down on me; instead, his gaze was intensely serious.

*Wait, is he actually serious?*

So he actually likes me, and yet he’s been spitting those incredibly rude insults at me this whole time?

“…….”

No, this is just wrong.

*If he’s serious, he’s completely out of his mind.*

I have no idea how he grew up to be this age with that mentality.

Teasing the girl you like just to get her attention is something you’re supposed to grow out of when you graduate kindergarten.

Ah, maybe it’s because they don’t have kindergartens in this world.

“Don’t flatter yourself. I’m not like Callion—I have no intention of playing along with your little games.”

Who asked you to play along?

“I find it completely exhausting.”

Is this really how a guy talks to a girl he likes? Telling her she’s exhausting?

*I’m the one who’s sick and tired of your rude mouth.*

I don’t even know what I did to deserve such verbal abuse. Does he even realize what’s coming out of his own mouth?

Excuse me, Mr. Rude. Do you ever think before you speak?

I couldn’t understand Senes to save my life.

From the very first moment he laid eyes on me, he looked at me like he was seeing a ghost and immediately picked a fight. I didn’t have a single memory of this jerk ever speaking to me with a shred of decency.

*And he expects me to believe he likes me? He’s completely insane.*

I was so flabbergasted I couldn’t even speak.

Is his logic just fundamentally different because he’s from another world?

*Wait, hold on.*

No way.

Charm Lv. 1

Allows you to seduce members of the opposite sex and captivate them as your captive.

Is it because of the Charm skill? Is that why this jerk has completely lost his mind?

I let out a dumbfounded sigh.

*He dislikes me and finds me annoying, but because the Charm skill is bewitching him, he’s feeling totally conflicted?*

I guess the system’s force overrules logic and actual emotion. People in this world must have an exhausting time.

“Senes.”

“What is it?”

“You really are a pitiful person.”

“…….”

I did feel a bit of pity for his miserable state—clearly hating me, yet forced into a denial phase because of a system skill.

The remaining duration of the Charm skill was thirty-one hours.

*Well, Senes is going to leave town today or tomorrow anyway, so I won’t have to deal with this jerk anymore… Wait.*

A sudden chill ran down my spine.

Now that I thought about it, the stares I was getting felt completely different from yesterday. Yesterday, Callion and Senes drew all the attention, making me look like nothing more than a piece of stray luggage they were hauling around. But looking around now…

I could feel people’s eyes constantly darting toward me.

*Wait, is this dangerous?*

Does “seducing the opposite sex” mean it doesn’t just charm a specific target of my choice when I want, but that it draws aggro from *any* random man around?

*If so, that’s going to be a huge problem.*

I did find it strange that the side effect only activated during intimacy, yet the duration kept extending.

*I should definitely avoid walking around on my own for now.*

I wasn’t entirely sure, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

Feeling a bit nervous, I pressed closer to Senes’s side. The men who had been ogling me quickly averted their eyes.

Looking up, I saw Senes glaring daggers at them.

In moments like this, this jerk’s hostile glare actually came in handy.

Still, I hadn’t forgotten the absolute mountain of karma he’d built up with his mouth. I would keep my thanks strictly to myself.

“Master. Brother. You haven’t left yet?”

“I was waiting to go with you, Callion.”

Having apparently finished packing his things, Callion had come downstairs, so we stepped out of the inn together.

* * *

Walking between the two of them, I could feel everyone’s eyes locked onto us. It was bad enough to have two drop-dead gorgeous men like Callion and Senes flanking me, but on top of that, I was still under the influence of the Charm skill’s side effect.

To be fair, the women’s attention was undoubtedly fixed on the two men beside me. To avoid the men’s stares, I tried my best to shrink and hide between them.

Callion seemed uncomfortable with the attention and had pulled his hood up, though I doubted he realized that a man of his massive build doing that only drew more eyes. Personally, I didn’t mind since Callion absorbing all the attention allowed me to fly under the radar.

Senes, on the other hand, had actually buttoned up his shirt, which usually hung indecently open. Well, makes sense. His chest was bigger than mine anyway; walking around exposed like that in public would basically be public indecency.

*Why do I have to wear a bra when even Senes doesn’t?*

Granted, the bras in this world were actually quite comfortable, being wireless and made of highly elastic, soft fabric.

* * *

The first place we went was a clothing store.

“Callion, are you buying clothes?”

“Yes. Please pick whatever you like, Master.”

“Pardon?”

We were shopping for *my* clothes?

“If you’re going to stay here, I thought you would need some spare clothes to change into.”

“Callion, I’d feel terrible letting you buy me clothes. I’ll pay you back later.”

“Do you even have the money to buy your own clothes?”

Senes chimed in from the side, hitting me right where it hurt.

“No…….”

Okay, I’ll just accept his generosity.

I didn’t know what kind of fabric they used in this world, but it was great because it didn’t retain any odors. Still, I couldn’t go around wearing the exact same outfit every single day.

Fortunately, he hadn’t dragged me to some extravagant, high-end boutique straight out of a fantasy novel. It was just a normal clothing store, which made it far less stressful.

The weather was a bit chilly, so as I browsed the long-sleeved options, the clerk recommended a hooded cape. It was perfect—I wanted something to cover my face anyway to avoid attracting unwanted male attention from the Charm skill. Despite the thick fabric, it was surprisingly lightweight and comfortable.

The only issue was that it was pure white, which felt a bit flashy.

“Master. You look absolutely beautiful.”

Callion offered his compliment with a beaming smile, making me nod as if under a spell.

I’ll take it.

“If you say so, I’ll go with this one.”

“You should choose clothes based on your own taste. Buying it impulsively just because of a single compliment? Seeing how recklessly you make decisions, it’s no wonder you ended up in an accident and lost your memory. It was bound to happen, wasn’t it?”

I didn’t ask you, you jerk!

*And for your information, my amnesia is just an excuse to hide my identity! My brain is perfectly fine!*

For someone who supposedly likes me, his vicious mouth didn’t show any signs of taking a break. Was it because his natural personality was clashing with the system skill’s compulsion?

*What’s the point of forced affection from a skill when there’s no actual emotional connection? It’s completely meaningless.*

This exactly why they say you shouldn’t use cheat codes in games. True romance needs a proper narrative, after all.
