Prologue

People say a person lives three lives.

I don’t know which life this is, but since I still remember my previous one, this definitely isn’t my first.

In my past life, I suffered from a rare disease and spent all 24 years of my life confined to a hospital.

Even so, I never lost hope that I could survive someday.
Unfortunately, my life ran dry before a cure was ever discovered.

And so, my second—or maybe third—life began.

The strange thing, however, was that I wasn’t reborn as a baby. Only the soul from my previous life had entered the body of an adult woman.

“Possession… I’ve possessed someone.”

After spending 24 years in a hospital, there were only so many things I could do for entertainment.

Among them, the only joy I was truly allowed was reading web novels.

To confess honestly—
seeing all those possession stories in novels, I’d once secretly wished I could experience it too.

I wanted to roam freely through the wide world outside the hospital with a healthy body.

I wanted to experience a passionate, burning romance.
I wanted to meet good people and build a warm, happy family.

“If you were going to grant my wish, couldn’t you at least do it properly?! What is this?!”

Where did all the customer satisfaction go…?

I glared at the woman reflected in the mirror.

Sparkling golden hair that looked dusted with starlight.
Blue eyes as bright and clear as a lake holding the summer sky.

The woman in the mirror—me, who had begun a new life—was breathtakingly beautiful, the kind of beauty you could stare at all day without getting tired of it.

But that was all.

This body I’d obtained was absolutely no help for my new life.

“Possession? Sure, fine. But did it have to be this woman’s body?”

Whoever the god in charge of reincarnation was, I seriously wanted a meeting.

There was a reason I couldn’t be happy despite getting the chance at a new life.

If I had to describe the novel I possessed into, I Want You, in one sentence, I’d confidently call it a complete trainwreck tragedy.

The original story went roughly like this:

The male lead hated his unwanted political marriage, and the moment his wife committed adultery, he immediately threw divorce papers at her without hesitation.

After becoming divorced, the male lead met the fated heroine and fell in love, just like in every romance novel.

But he wasn’t the only one who wanted the heroine.

Though he lacked enough impact to truly be called the second male lead, even the emperor desired her.

The male lead despised that.

So he overthrew the emperor through rebellion and installed the young crown prince as a puppet emperor.

Sure, the male lead was completely insane, but in romance novels, as long as the two leads ended up together, who cared about logic?

But why was it such a disastrous story?

Because after the rebellion, the Idalos Empire fell into chaos as noble families fought a civil war over the unstable power vacuum.

And then the heroine—who happened to be a saintess—blamed all those tragedies on the male lead and dumped him with a disappointed expression.

Rejected by the heroine, the male lead killed himself.

“He’s the craziest male lead I’ve ever seen in a romance fantasy.”

Kahinel Hyrent.

He was the insane male lead and hidden mastermind of the original novel.

Now then, here’s the question.

What role did the woman I possessed play in this catastrophic story?

“Ha… that lunatic is my husband.”

I was none other than Rishua—the wife who cheated on the hidden villain and received divorce papers.

At first glance, that didn’t sound like such a bad life.

The hidden villain, someone you’d gain absolutely nothing from getting involved with, wanted a divorce first. How great was that?

…Except not at all.

I had one extremely fatal problem.

“Isn’t it too cruel to make someone who already died young from an incurable illness live another short life?”

Rishua was cursed and destined to die on the morning of her twenty-fifth birthday.

And that day was also the exact day she had planned to stamp the divorce papers.

From today until the day of my death, I had four months left.

The goal given to me was clear.

“I’m going to break this curse.”

I didn’t know the cause of the curse, but I knew exactly how to solve it.

The person who could save me was none other than my husband—the insane hidden-villain male lead, Kahinel.

“Divorce? Absolutely not until the curse is lifted.”

If I hadn’t known how to break the curse, I might have been the one throwing divorce papers at Kahinel first so I could live the rest of my life however I pleased.

“Rishua was a fool.
Even with her savior right beside her, she failed to recognize him, and in the end, she met a miserable and lonely death on the morning of her birthday.”

If Kahinel was the savior who could keep me alive, how could I possibly give up?

Even if I ended up divorcing him later according to the original story, I couldn’t do that now.

“The problem is… Kahinel hates Rishua.”

I knew Kahinel was the key to lifting the curse, but I had no idea how the curse would actually be broken.

Which meant I’d have to try everything.

But would Kahinel even cooperate with me?

“How am I supposed to seduce that man?”

I pondered for a moment before shaking my head.

“No, I probably don’t need to seduce him.”

Once the curse was lifted, I planned to divorce Kahinel immediately and leave the original story behind.

There were definitely problems, but I didn’t want to ruin the lucky new life I’d been given by getting tangled in this catastrophic tragedy.

More importantly, what had the heroine ever done wrong?

I had absolutely no desire to interfere with the story of the two protagonists.

“For me, the most important thing is lifting the curse and living a long life. Let’s focus only on that.”

Once my goal became clear, I couldn’t stop smiling.

Thinking about it, it was kind of funny.

In romance novels, usually the man gets labeled with the “obsessive” trope while the woman becomes the cold, hard-to-get one.

“Husband, just you wait. I’ll show you what true clinginess with a purpose looks like.”

In our marriage, I was clearly going to be the obsessive one, while my husband played hard to get.

Of course, no matter what it took, I fully intended to break down my husband’s walls.
